A New Kind of Literary Magazine Launches

The Writers Federation launched the inaugural publication of the most democratic literary magazine in the world, The Green Dragon Courant.
The magazine is named for the tavern where the Sons of Liberty met prior to hauling up their buckskin slacks and doing their bit to get the American Revolution rolling.

Former Scribd Authors Invited to Join Wattpad’s Social Writing Community

Writers of fiction and poetry who are dissatisfied with recent changes to Scribd policies are invited to experience Wattpad, the world’s most popular eBook community. Last month, Scribd introduced a program where older files are automatically placed behind a pay wall that readers must pay Scribd in order to access – a move many authors likened to profiting on content without the writer’s consent and contrary to the principle of open access.

Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter have potential to get adults excited about reading books. Many adult readers enjoy connecting on a personal level with the authors of the books they read.
September is National Literacy Month, and adult educators are always looking for ways to get their students excited about reading books.

Zondervan to Publish More Than 1,000 Christian Titles for iPad Launch

To accompany the long-awaited iPad launch, Zondervan is one of the first publishers to release titles in Apple’s iBookstore beginning Saturday, April 3, 2010. More than 1,000 titles will be available for download from all product groups. Zondervan plans to release all its future ebooks in an iPad version and is working to release more than 150 additional books in the next three months.
Users will be able to purchase the books from Apple’s iBookstore, as well as read excerpts, reviews and additional details about Zondervan books and its authors.
